Susan Hess has been practicing yoga since 2003, and received her Hatha Yoga Teacher Certification in 2010, having completed the Anusara Teacher Training Course with Todd Norian and Anne Green.  Her teaching continues to be influenced by her studies with Doug Keller.    Her meditation, spirituality and philosophy studies are guided by Paul Muller-Ortega, Blue Throat Yoga, Santa Barbra, California.  Susan is a fiber artist and enjoys gardening and music. You can reach Susan at (207) 371-9064     click here to email Susan









Phil Payson teaches Power Vinyasa, an “Active and challenging flow, a delightful blend of movement, breath, sweat and serenity.” He credits yoga with saving his life. Phil no longer is laid up for days and weeks at a time with back problems, and as a cancer survivor, he is now disease free and enjoying the fruits of a regular practice. Phil has completed the Baptiste Level One teacher training and the Assistants Training Program. Phil is also trained in Integrated Breathwork and Therapeutic Breathwork, and includes vision fasts, time in nature, regular meditation, and silent meditation retreats in his spiritual practices. Ann Flannery owns and operates The Barn. She is a Certified Professional Yoga teacher with Advanced Level training.  Ann has been practicing yoga for more than 20 years and teaching yoga for 10 years.  Her Sports and Yoga program has been taught to individuals and teams throughout the region. 

Originally certified at Kripalu, Ann’s continuing Yoga studies include the Iyengar tradition, Anusara methodology and Restorative yoga. In her teaching, Ann enjoys the opportunity and privilege of sharing the many benefits that the ancient practice of Yoga offers. 

She is also a well-respected tennis instructor and coach, and shepherded a USTA women’s team to the U.S. National Championships.  Ann loves being on the water and is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain.

Shirsten Shirsten Lundblad became certified as a Kripalu Yoga Teacher in 1997, and has been teaching yoga ever since, in community education programs, at The Barn, and at Orcasong Studio.  Currently, Shirsten also teaches the YogaStretch class of the Silver Sneakers program, a national program of fitness for elders, at Maine Pines Racquet and Fitness Club in Brunswick. Shirsten has studied Iyengar yoga for many years, as well as Anusara Yoga, and her teaching and practice are guided and influenced by Doug Keller, Erich Schiffman, John Friend, Todd Norian, and Anne Green, with a special interest in yoga therapeutics.  Through practicing massage since 1982, Shirsten has a developed a great appreciation for the body and its mysteries. She has a profound love and ever-growing respect for yoga, as her experience in the practice deepens over the years.
